What dose do I take of CBD oil?

The dose depends on whatever it takes to achieve the result you desire and it’s different for everyone. The only way to know your ideal dose is to experiment.  Keep in mind that the higher your body weight and the more severe your symptoms, the higher the dose may be required.

Start Low and Slow
If you are not used to taking cannabinoids like CBD or never have, you should start dosing “low and slow” to allow your body some days to get used to taking cannabinoids.  So, for example, your first day, take 3 to 5 drops or so, and see how you feel over the next few hours.  If you feel good, you can do this again later that same day.  The next day, increase to 5 to 10 drops, twice that day if it feels good to do so.  After 3 or 4 days, work your way up to the normal dosage of ½ dropper (15 drops) twice per day. If you are experienced with cannabinoids, then you can start with normal doses more quickly or right away.

It takes about 2 weeks to a month for your endocannbinoid system to “wake up” and produce more cannabinoid receptors, which increases the effectiveness of the doses that you take.  If you still have symptoms after getting up to a full dose for a few days, you can increase the dose every 3 days to 2, 3, 4+ dropperfuls per day. If you end up taking 2+ droppers of say the 500 mg at a time you may want to get the 1000, 1500 or the 3,000 mg next time. The only typical side effects of CBD can be drowsiness and/or a dry mouth. If drowsiness is an issue for you, you can take your dose at night only. CBD oil is a food and it is not possible to “overdose” on CBD oil like you can overdose on drugs. It is possible that after a period of time you will be able to decrease your dose and receive the same benefits.

Keep in mind that you can take the CBD oil orally and topically if you have pain. You can add the oil directly to the skin or mix it with a lotion/oil of your choice. We also have CBD oil creams and salves. People report a stronger effect of a combination of oral and topical CBD vs. topical alone but some people are fine with just the cream.

Another way to estimate your ideal dosage is based on your body weight and symptom severity

As with most substances, individuals with more body mass will require more CBD to experience its effects. With that being said, a good rule of thumb to determine your proper CBD dosage is to take 1–6 MG of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight based on the individual’s level of pain or symptoms.

Start small and increase gradually

it is important to first determine your initial dosage based on your weight/symptoms, gauge how your body reacted to that amount of CBD, then increase gradually while continuing to monitor your body’s reactions till you find the perfect dosage that works for your situation.
Simply fill the dropper, administer the oil under your tongue, then hold it there for 30 to 90 seconds before swallowing.

But, how many drops of CBD oil should you take? With some simple mathematics, we can easily figure that out. Being that the dropper is the tool we use to administer a CBD tincture, we need to find out how much CBD is in a single dropper. Once you know this, you can gauge how much CBD you’re taking.

How do you figure out how much CBD is in a dropper?
Typically, a dropper holds 1 ML of liquid. If you know how many milliliters are in a CBD tincture, you can use this simple formula to determine how much CBD is in its dropper:
[Total CBD in Bottle] ÷ [Number of Milliliters in Bottle] = MGs of CBD in a Dropper.  A dropper is about 15 drops.

3000 ÷ 30 = 100MG of CBD per dropper
1500 ÷ 30 = 50MG of CBD per dropper
1000 ÷ 30 = 33.3 MG of CBD per dropper
500 ÷ 30 = 16.6 MG of CBD per dropper
250 ÷ 30 = 8.3 MG of CBD per dropper

·         Now, if your proper dosage of CBD is 25MG, and a single dropper of that 1500MG tincture contains 50MG, you’d simply fill the dropper halfway.

Standard dose = 0.25mg X 1lb of body-weight
E.g. If your dog weighs 20 pounds then 20 x .25 = 5 mg
1 drop of 500 mg bottle = 1 mg CBD so you’d need 5 drops for a 20 lb. dog

Feel free to increase the standard dose if your pet has therapeutic or medicinal situations listed below:

Standard: General immune support and situational anxiety (driving in a car, bad weather, large crowds).

·         Therapeutic: Anxiety, nausea, inflammation, arthritis and pain from injury.

Medicinal: Cancer, epilepsy, hip dysplasia.
