Boy, today is really hard. I live in Cleveland. My department is celebrating the Cleveland Indians' win last night. There is homemade banana bread, homemade muffins, homemade cupcakes and large baseball decorated cookies. I went to make a cup of Chai Green Tea instead. With Stevia, this will be my sweet treat. I'm hanging fast but the temptation is great!

Remember, sugar is rat poison!

Hey agoers! I'm so proud of you for resisting. One of the tricks I used during my 180-pound weight loss in 2004 was to think of anything that contained excessive sugar and other culprit carbs as "rat poison." It's amazing how well this little mind game can work with GREAT success. This has helped me attend parties and other functions were junk food is present and not feel tempted in the least. After all, who wants to eat RAT POISON? Give it a try and let me know how it works for you. AWESOME JOB resisting this time around. :D

Hanging In

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I want to say that your advice was right on! I was able to resist all temptations on Halloween and came away successful. First, there were goodies galore at work -- homemade fudge, cookies, cupcakes, breads, candies, etc. Then I had to go home and give out candy bars to the trick-or-treaters. Needless to say, I gave out my two favorites -- BUT I did not indulge. The very next day I got the extra candy out of my house and brought it to work. The bars are in a candy dish on my desk for all to help themselves, but to me they are invisible. I am able to resist the treats and stick to the progr4am.

today is hard/temptations

Those temptations can be hard to resist, especially when there is some sort of celebration going on...follow the meal plan, particularly making sure you are getting all the necessary protein, fat, and frequent healthful snacks, and your blood sugar should be balanced. This will help eliminate sugar cravings and will make it less likely that you want to eat those "treats". Havings an alternative that is healthier, like your green chai tea, is also a good idea. But if the treats are so much "in your face" that you can't resist, learning a technique like EFT (emotional freedom technique- we teach it to you in the lessons) can be very helpful when dealing with situations such as these.
