Hi Winnie
I cycle on a wind trainer and row on a Concept II rowing machine 5 - sometimes 7 days a week. I go to the gym and work with weights 2 to 3 times a week. I sometimes do Qigong.
We are hoping that our coaching program is ready sometime very soon- in the next few weeks. One more question- what is your current exercise plan/strategy?
Dear Winnie
I had come to the same comclusion - that it is likely to be food allergies that makes me gain weight and always hungry. I have therefore not eaten wheat or corn or the other gluten based grains for a very long time. Now I suspect cheese and yoghurt so I have stopped eating them. When will this one to one consultation which you mention be available?
Leslie
I think that amount sounds ok, but I'd prefer to see you further along in the program before you add it in-maybe sometime in your third month or so...That being said, if you feel that having a little wine now and then is not going to affect your compliance in the program in any way and that it enhances your meals and your life, then go ahead when you see fit.
Dr. Winnie Abramson
Ginny,
You did not mention in your post if you went ahead and ate any of the foods avoided in the elimination phase during the time when you were sick or since...If you are feeling completely better now, I actually would recommend going back to the start of the elimination phase, following the elimination diet for several weeks, and then going ahead with all the food sensitivity testings as you would have had you not gotten sick. I think you will get more out of the program this way rather than trying to jump back in where you left off. Hope this helps,
Dr. Winnie Abramson
Hello,
I am sorry for any discomfort you experieced with this bout of diverticulitis. As far as I know, there is no absolutely definitive link between seeds and this condition, but if you feel that the crackers may have contributed, then please go ahead and avoid them. Maybe for now it is best to stick to small amounts of the gluten-free grains in their whole form and stay away from the crackers. I do not believe you need to avoid fruits and vegetables with seeds, but maybe consider soaking nuts and seeds for 4 hours then roasting them at low temp before eating. This enhances their digestibility and will help you to avoid any potential future problems. For now, you may also want to focus on nourishing broths and easy to digest foods such as blended soups. Coconut oil is also excellent for the digestive system and I would consider taking probiotics and perhaps digestive enzymes, as well. A healthy high fiber diet is definitely indicated for preventing future problems and our nutritional program fits the bill.
Take care and feel better,
Dr. Winnie Abramson
Hello,
Have you embarked on the allergy elimination phase of the program? From everything you say in your post, I wonder if food sensitivities may be playing a part in your struggles, because it sounds like you are so conscientious and eat well.
So do try the elimination diet, and see if avoiding the common food allergens makes a difference. Also, try limiting all grains, as this does help many individuals.
Lastly, look for the launch of our upcoming coaching program where we will be offering phone appointment sessions to address the individual needs of our clients.
I sincerely hope you find the weight loss success you deserve on this program.
Dr. Winnie Abramson
Like most others I didn't acquire my weight problems until I was close to 30 (I'm 46). I have been struggling with my weight since my last child. I have to admit....the early years of my life, highschool is where it began, I was not a healthy eater. I would eat a Snicker's bar, and maybe dinner. Sooooo I have created this mess that I am in now. For the past few years I have been trying to get healthy, and have made some progress. But I fall off the wagon occasionally and sometimes go months before I can get back on.
This is my fourth day on the Enlita program. I find I need the structure of a planned program, and having been a avid reader of Mercola.com, this is the only program that thinks the way I do. I'm hoping this will be the program for me.
Day three was a little tough in the evening. I am a sugar addict. Husband was watching the baseball playoffs, munching of course.
I heard the Halloween candy voices calling me. Sooo I grabbed a sparkling water, my book and locked myself in my room and read. I will say I was feeling quite sorry for myself but managed to pull through. I weighed myself this morning and found I have lost 3 pounds in as many days. My reward :D !
Hi Candy!
I'm happy to meet you. Like you, in my teens, twenties and thirties I really did not have a weight problem. I gained some weight in my thirties but I looked healthy as before I was skinny too. ( people would ask me if I was anorexic).
Once I turned 40 the weight just seemed to creep up on me too. I will be 46 next year (where did the time go - just yesterday I was graduating high school :D ) and in the past 4 years have added 50 lbs to my body.
Again, like you, I joined weight watchers only it took me 3 months to loose 10 lbs. The first week I lost 3.5 lbs and after that it was a major struggle.
I know a lot of this is that my hormones are changing but I have never had to fight so hard to lose weight. I am really hoping this program will address the hormone issue.
Good luck to us all!!
Oops! please disregard. I just found it. Very small and not obvious.. scanned over it thinking those links were just the daily links for the current week.

Hi,
Diet will help but not by itself. You need to find the right work out plan too. For legs, I would consider doing fairly light weights and higher reps- 15-20 at a time and 3 sets of each. Or ignore the weights and focus on lunges, squats, and other movements like this- these are great because they do not bulk you up. At the same time, focus more on strengthening other areas of your body such as your arms, abs, and back with push-ups, dips, crunches, etc. Pilates and yoga are good for stretching and strenthening as well. I would not necessarily stop exercising- I would look for a different way to exercise :) We will soon have exercise videos on the site- stay tuned!
Dr. Winnie Abramson
thanks for the quick response. looking forward to the exercise segments on the site.
so this is the thing with me.
i have a lot of muscle. i have been an athlete my entire life and develop muscle easily. i just get bigger with weights and resistance training. i have been using the less cardio more resistance plan. my blood sugar is more stable but i am bulking up in my lower half.
i am attempting to reduce my body fat.
i am guessing for me that is really only going to happen via diet?
i don't know what to do with exercise? part of me feels like i should stop working out for awhile, which would curb my appetite? is there any validity to that?
i am trying to find my homeostasis.
Hi,
We recommend Whey Healthier and sell it on the site because we believe its the highest quality protein powder on the market (and many of them are very low quality). You do get what you pay for- Whey Healthier costs more because it is very pure and is fortified with many important nutrients for detoxification and optimal health. Your product may be fine, but it's most likely not the same.
Dr. Winnie Abramson
This is a great idea.
We will keep up all lessons and menus for the month. When you go to the next level (month 2) we'll have them available in an archive.
If you have any more suggestions for how to improve our program or if you want to leave some positive feedback you can also send them to comments@enlita.com
Okay. so I am on the same page with the nutritionist. Huzzah!
How do different whey products compare? I found one (which I purchased) that was sweetened with stevia, non-denatured, sounds about the same as Whey Healthier, except mine isn't from grass pastured cows.
I'm game to buy "your" brand, but mine was affordable and convenient. Is mine that much "lesser" of a product?
I bought Whey Factors, but I guess there are a number of brands with similar profiles.. thanks!
You are right- whey is a dairy derivative. Whey Healthier, however, is a pure and unique whey protein powder that retains many of the benefits of raw milk, plus it contains detoxifying nutrients, so we feel it is acceptable during the elimination phase of the program.
If you feel it is impossible for you to give up coffee right now, try sweetening it with stevia for the time being and see if you can decrease the amount of coffee you are drinking over the course of a week or two while increasing your green tea until you are drinking just green tea. Let us know if we can help further,
Dr. Winnie Abramson
I am currently developing alternative recipes for vegans and vegetarians. Please be patient as these menu plans will be ready soon! Thanks,
Dr. Winnie Abramson
Hello,
We are working on getting our exercise portion of the Enlita program ready...in the meantime, it sounds like you are having trouble recovering from your workouts. I think you are doing too much cardio, so I would recommend backing off on that. Start to incorporate more strength/resistance training, and limit your cardio for a little while and see if that helps. Also, if you are very active, you may need to eat more food overall throughout the day so that you don't crave carbs after your workouts.
Butter is technically dairy but since it contains little to no milk solids it really does not cause allergic/sensitivity reactions the way other dairy products do. If you are more comfortable leaving it out until your dairy testing day, that is fine. Otherwise, you can use it in small amounts.
Hi,
It sounds like you have some issues with regulating your blood sugar (if you have "run down" adrenals, this is definitely the case), so for you it is very important to eat the frequent meals and snacks. Don't rely on your appetite at this stage- just follow the clock and eat something, even if its just a few bits of food- every few hours. Having a snack two hours after breakfast and a snack three hours after lunch is usually a good schedule, with the next meal no more than two hours after the snack. If you follow this schedule, you will soon start to feel hungrier more regularly and this is a good sign. You can just make your snack a few bites of fruit or veggies if you really don't feel hungry, but do have something.
As for the egg reintroduction, the menu for that day can guide you but if you are really averse to eggs, you can definitely eat less than is recommended in the menu- three times is just fine if that works for you.
Dr. Winnie Abramson
Not an easy situation...but not impossible either. Since all meals are provided, try to seek out all meats and fish and load up on veggie foods and skip all breads, other grains, sweets, and foods you have already been avoiding for the elim. diet. The quality of the proteins may not be top notch but I would rather see you eat these for a few days than compromise the elimination diet you have already been doing. Maybe bring some extra fruit with you that does not need to be refrigerated- apples, pear, bananas, etc. and also bring a bunch of nuts/seeds so that you can snack on these if needed. Try not to overeat and stay away from alcohol. Its only a few days- you can do it.
